Google Replaces Apple as World’s Most Valuable Brand in Latest Rankings

This year’s report of the 100 most valuable brands on the planet has a shake up on the top of the list. Apple’s brand worth, according to the Millward Brown BrandZ report has fallen 20 percent from last year’s ranking and allowed Google to step into the number one spot.
This yearly report uses figures that are tightly guarded by Millward Brown, but are usually spot on. In relation to last year’s ranking, Google’s brand worth has risen a whopping 40 percent which allowed them to overtake Apple at the top of the list. The BrandZ list pings Google’s brand value at $159 billion dollars, whereas Apple’s has fallen down to $148 billion.
The evolution of Google Glass, Google’s driverless cars, plus projects like Project Ara are just a few of the things associated with Google’s brand, certainly contributing to this growth.
A few other notable names on this list – AT&T is ranked 8, Amazon and Verizon are 10 and 11, respectively. Facebook is ranked 21, two spots ahead of the Disney corporation. And for as much domination as Samsung has over the Android marketplace, it only gets them the 29th spot.
